About Me

Hello, and welcome to my studio page! My name is Haley Hanzon, and I have been playing the piano since 1997 and teaching since 2005. I love to work with beginning students of all ages, and have experience in working with learning disabilities and other extenuating circumstances.

I come from a very musical family, with relatives who sing and play various instruments. I myself play the piano, organ, and ukulele, as well as singing. I have a strong background in performance, and I include and encourage opportunities for my students to perform. I also teach music classes at a local elementary school.

About My Studio

I teach using the Bastien Method Books. I have done some research into the different methods, and find this one to be engaging, thorough, and affordable.

In addition to the required repertoire, I encourage my students to come to me with pieces they would like to learn. If I cannot find an arrangement tailored to their level, I will write one myself. I go to this effort because I strongly believe that piano should be fun! Students are more engaged if they like the music they are playing.

I play lots of different games with my students that both reinforce concepts and keep lessons fun. I also hold a studio recital each fall, where students can display two memorized pieces they've worked on during the year.

I also provide practice incentives and occasional studio-wide challenges to jumpstart engagement at different times during the year.
